Diary 2-18: Toward The Speech Contest!!
Hello, everyone. I’m Emiri. First, I have a question. “Are you healthy?” and can you say “Yes I am!” with confidence?
You may already try to do something to keep your health, for example exercising, sleeping well and balanced eating. Above all, I believe that balanced eating is the best to your good health.
All my family is in pretty good health, and we eat vegetables well, especially my grandpa! He is the shortest, and oldest, but he is the most active in the neighborhood. I’m proud of him best.
Our eating habit is mainly Japanese food that my mother cooked. For example Miso soup, Tsukemono, delicious rice and so on.
They are law-fat, less salt, very nourishing and so delicious! As we eat it everyday, we can keep our health. So we love Japanese food.
And usually I enjoy cooking with thinking of health. When I serve it to my family or friends, they say “Yummy!” with smiling. I’m so glad to see it. So, good food make us healthy, smile and happy!
However today, many people often have imbalanced food in the world, as junk food, instant food and snacks. Moreover, the safety of food is losing day by day. Actually some people died after they ate dirty food imported.
So I’m worried the member of healthy people will decrease in the end. That’s too bad, because if only we have good food, we don’t need any medical doctor.
The other hand, some people seems to come to think better of healthiness of Japanese food. Actually Japanese eating habit is world-famous as the healthiest. I heard especially Australian often eat Japanese food.
They always watch what they eat for health, and eat many kinds of organic food. And Melbourne, in Australia is called “Gourmet City of the world” In there, many multi-national restaurants are crowded. Even though, Japanese restaurant is the most popular among all. When I heard it, I was proud of our food.
Since that, I want to go there to learn English and Australian food life. I want to serve them Japanese traditional food I cooked. As the same time, someday I try to accept Australian taste into my Japanese cooking.
Therefore I came to think naturally, I want to open a natural food restaurant. In there, I serve my original healthy menu. It’s my big dream!!
My grandpa cheered for this dream. But sad to say, last September, suddenly my grandpa is gone. His friend said to me, “He always used to say that health is the most important for me, because I have to live a long life for my family.”
And when his muscular bones appeared from his small body, we were surprised. As the same time, we believed that the bones were made from our dairy balanced eating habit exactly. In the moment, I understand importance of balanced eating and his love for us.
Therefore, in my restaurant, I want to make people healthy, smile and happy, just like my grandpa. As the same time, I insist on how much it is important to have a balanced eating for good health.
Then someday I invite my family in my restaurant, and I tell my thanks for bring me up with all my heart.
Finally, usually Japanese say “いただきます。” before they eat. I think it’s a great habit. It’s what we say to God, mother and food. Such this, I think we should thank to food more, and eat anything without leftover.
Balanced eating makes us healthy. Good health makes us smile. Smile makes us happy. Please never forget this for your good life. Well, in the party after this, everyone let’s say “いただきます。” before you eat.

ES 2-05: Learning With Computers
Today, almost schools all over the world adopt learning with computers. In the early days of spread computers, when I was a elementary school student, I had a image that the computer will be used only for business and something difficult.
But computers is being the necessities of life, like a cell phone now. It seems that there are quite a few experienced user even less than high school age.
I think this tendency has both good point and bad point. Let's think about that.
Challenges:
Merit of LWC
>>1. To collect information for your study without text or dictionary
First, Bring some texts for classes, almost students feel "What a bother!" Especially a dictionary is burdensome. Also when you search for information, you have to collect some materials.
But that's a old trend a little. Searching, collecting materials, checking up..., now we could do all of them with only using computer!! It's really convenience. Besides, your baggage become light than before.
Actually, number of information which we get from materials are no match for computers. So a computer is just like a small library.
>>2. To finish your report faster than paper writing(easy to edit)
Next, a eraser is necessary to erase a word written by a pencil. If you want to move a sentence to other newer paragraph, you have to write again the same words after erased many words. And what is even worse, the paper can become dirty when you too erase again and again.
But using computers, you could do such trouble things by only a few click!! So computer is a edit master!!
>>3. To learn with enjoying
Third, there are many websites for studying on the Internet. They are not only formal website as TOEIC or TOEFL website, but just game's websites to train both your English skill and typing skill.
I often use such websites when I want to be carefree while studying. In short, I can do both studying and resting at once. It's so good for us. I think that it is the most typical point of LWC.
Demerit of LWC
>>1. Concern of failing our spell skill and Kanji skill
First, as spreading of LWC, it seems to concern failing spell skill and Kanji skill. If a word's spell was wrong, a computer helps us to correct it. Also if we can't remember Kanji, a computer easily change Hiragana we typed into Kanji. It's a convenient function. But it makes our handwriting skill decline.
>>2. Possibility that a important document may go away in an instant
Second, Only one click, computer works well to make a sentence correct better. However, sometimes it causes a emergency.
I have such a experience before. That is, I deleted all my report almost finished by mistake in an instant. After that, I was afraid of a "Black space" button for a short while.
In short, typing can quickly do both correct and delete. It's a big difference between typing and handwriting exactly.
>>3. When we compromise to keep studying, we tend to waste of time by net surfing.
Third, as I told above, we could easily get many various information with using computers. In the fact, some people tend to waste of the time by net surfing. Besides, we are often absorbed in it for a long time. It's the same as just like to read a magazine or to use your cell phone in middle of class. That's no good.
We should don't be long standing it when your free studying.
Useful applications:
>>Searching
I'll introduce two useful websites for searching. First, "Google" !! this is the most well-known searching website around the world. We can get any kind of information from here. http://www.google.co.jp/
Next, "Wikipedia"!! I consider it the greatest net-dictionary exactly. When I can't understand one word, always visit here to know it. I think everyone knows both of them, maybe. http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/ã¡ã¤ã³ãã¼ã¸
>>Study English
First, ALC!! All Eibei student train our English skill there. It's really useful for dairy study.
Next, Toeic and Toefl training website!! If you want to regularly use these site, you may have to pay the fees. But, luckily they are set up some trials free. A lot of students who hope to go to study abroad have used them.
Conclusion:
I tried to consider which way is better for today's students, writing or typing. I think it's necessary to use both.
First, the reason why, it is almost one of duty to use computer as a member of society today. As you always train the skill while youth, it will be very useful to get job.
Next, handwriting let brain works better than LWC. Because the hand movement is involved. So, handwriting is easy to remember what we write. Besides, automatic correct doesn't work in handwriting. So we have to remember and write the ward by ourselves.
Therefore, I think Learning with computers is necessary today as same as handwriting. I hope the following society won't be person who cannot write right spell, Kanji and so on.

ES 2-04; A big magazin's model ~Secret of Kumamoto~
Its heroes are "Syohoku(=翔北) high school basketball team", and the coach is "Anzai(=安西)". He looks just like Mr.Kernel of KFC!! The character is so charming and kind, but secretly really strict like a devil! His wise is so famous among alomost Japanese athletes, that is "When the moment you give up, the game is over."
Surprisingly, there's a rumor that the model is a former basketball's coach in Kumamoto Kokufu high school!! I don't know who started such a rumor, but it's a well-known story.
However, I have never seen him. Also many my friends. So it seems to just a gossip.
The cartoonist is from Kagoshima. And he also used to play basketball for a long time. When he was a high school student, he acted as a captain of the basketball team. So I guess that he saw the coach when a basketball much was held, it seems. They say that among kyusyu area, Kumamoto is a prafacture where is the site of a hard fought battle. I think so, too! Actualy, I have seen a lot of great babsket players in Kumamoto, when I was on the active list.
I guess that in Kumamoto, there are more many models who are basketball player in this comic. I hope so. And I need to see the Anzai sensei's model someday.
